Featured in the lobby of the Londoner Hotel Macau – Double Decker Adventures features an entirely life-sized and faithful recreation of an iconic London double decker bus… but with a twist! All of the bus windows and wheels have been replaced by LED screens, providing a fun and engaging visitor experience.
DOUBLE DECKER ADVENTURES PROVIDES THE FULL 360˚ EXPERIENCE
As with all of the Londoner installations, the concept and delivery of Double Decker Adventures was an undertaking of unprecedented scale, particularly in the wake of COVID-19 and severe travel restrictions.
AIM’s extraordinary creative direction and production led the charge, providing the client with the big picture – as well as the budgeting and logistics required to achieve their ambitious vision.
THE BUS INCLUDES 42 INDIVIDUALLY EMBEDDED LED SCREENS THAT ALL WORK IN PERFECT HARMONY TO PROVIDE THE ILLUSION OF A 'REAL' BUS WHEN VIEWED FROM ANY ANGLE
To enhance the illusion of the spectacle, the screen content takes advantage of all 42 screens to provide each and every unexpected moment – delighting and intriguing unsuspecting passersby!
THE EXPERIENCE COMPRISES 9 INDIVIDUALLY THEMED STORIES AND VARIOUS BRANDED STATES, ALL SEAMLESSLY STITCHED TOGETHER WITH BESPOKE TRANSITIONS, PROVIDING A PERFECT 360˚ ILLUSION OF A REAL BUS!
In addition to showcasing AIM’s extraordinary design and production capabilities, Double Decker Adventures is a masterclass in technical programming and delivery.
Programmed to play 24 hours a day 7 days a week, the main content features quintessential ‘London’ characters – knights of the realm, the prim and proper, punks with mohawks... and the legend himself, David Beckham.
As part of the experience, our characters take a journey through hyper-real London attractions, travelling back in time and exploring new dimensions. The installation includes soundtrack hits from The Beatles, Queen and everything in-between.
AIM SYNTHESISED CREATIVITY WITH TECHNOLOGY TO PRODUCE THE END RESULT
The content was a combination of live action shoot and digital creation. Our visual effects team created previsualisation tests to ensure the scenes were accurately proportioned to the scale of the bus and that any interplay between the bus and its passengers was authentic and seamless.
