AIM PRODUCED OVER 300 DESIGNS AND 21,000 FRAMES OF ANIMATION
OUR VJs PERFORMED LIVE ACROSS 4 STAGES THROUGHOUT THE 2-NIGHT FESTIVAL
Artists in Motion was commissioned by the incredible team at MDLBEAST for the second year running to deliver the visual content for Balad Beast in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al-Balad, UNESCO World Heritage Site and city centre of Jeddah, was transformed into a dance music festival featuring Wu-Tang Clan, Bebe Rexha, DJ Snake and other international performers, along with a host of awesome local talent. The high-energy music, along with AIM's deep-saturated animations, kept the audience pumped throughout the two days.
To produce the bespoke video content, Artists in Motion's world-leading designers and content creators - 5 x Creative Directors, 15 x 3D and 2D animations artists, and 5 x VJs and real-time artists - delivered over 300 designs and 210,000 frames of animation in five weeks.
The imagery was inspired by Al-Balad's characteristics and iconography and was mapped specifically to the forms of the city's historic buildings by making 3D laser scans of each of the 12 buildings' exterior surfaces prior to the event.
Every second of the festival our live VJs controlled 875,000 pixels of animation - from sundown to the final beat, pushing the limits of real-time video technology to produce reactive, vibrant, and ever-evolving visual displays in response to the music.
