Created over 18 months through an extraordinary international collaboration, Why? The Musical brought together visionary filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, legendary composer A.R. Rahman and a global team of artists, designers and performers to create one of Expo 2020 Dubai's defining theatrical experiences.

At the heart of the story was a curious young girl and a wise old man whose journey spanned the outer reaches of the cosmos and the deepest corners of the human heart. Through music, dance, projection and breathtaking stagecraft, audiences were invited to rediscover the joy of asking life's simplest—and most profound—question: Why?

Featuring more than 100 performers and unfolding across the world's largest 360-degree projection surface, the production transformed Al Wasl Plaza into a stage unlike any other. From its earliest creative development through to opening night, Artists in Motion helped shape the visual identity of the production, bringing together projection, production design and storytelling to create a theatrical experience that resonated with audiences from every corner of the world.
