As part of Luna Park Sydney's landmark transformation, Artists in Motion was commissioned to create the inaugural attraction for the newly redeveloped Big Top following a $15 million renovation. The challenge was both ambitious and unique: to reimagine an 88-year-old heritage icon for contemporary audiences while preserving the playful spirit that has defined Luna Park for generations.
The result was Dream Circus—a fully automated immersive attraction capable of operating throughout the day at the touch of a button. Through a vibrant fusion of projection, lighting, spatial audio, interactive technology and theatrical storytelling, the historic venue was transformed into a fantastical world where imagination knew no bounds.
Guided by a cast of whimsical characters including Stanislaw the Magician, Samson the Strongman and Luna the Star, audiences journey through surreal dreamscapes filled with gravity-defying performances, underwater circuses and extraordinary worlds that blur the line between fantasy and reality. Celebrating Luna Park's rich history while embracing the future of immersive entertainment, Dream Circus established a new benchmark for location-based experiences in Australia.
Described by Luna Park CEO John Hughes as "a world-first concept, a world-first style of immersive attraction," Dream Circus has since been recognised with Best New Attraction at the 2024 Theme Park Awards and Best Achievement in Design at the 2024 Australian Event Awards.
