Curated by the late Rhoda Roberts AO, Badu Gili brings together the works of Jenuarrie (Judith Warrie), Frances Belle Parker, Alick Tipoti, and the late Lin Onus and Minnie Pwerle in a seven-minute projection that illuminates the eastern Bennelong sail of the Sydney Opera House each evening.
Meaning "Water Light" in the Gadigal language, Badu Gili weaves together art, animation and storytelling to celebrate the richness and diversity of First Nations cultures. Created as a permanent installation, the work continues to welcome visitors from around the world while fostering a shared sense of belonging through stories deeply connected to Country.
For the Artists in Motion team, Badu Gili remains one of our most meaningful commissions—an opportunity we approached with great care, respect and a deep commitment to honouring the artists, their stories and the cultures they represent.
