A GALLERY WINDOW WITH A DIFFERENCE
Situated within the halls of the Londoner Hotel Macau, this permanent installation was one of three magical shop fronts that AIM conceived, developed and delivered.
THE KEY TO PROVIDING THE ‘MAGIC’ OF THE GALLERY WAS DEVISING A CREATIVE AND TECHNICAL SOLUTION TO ALLOW THE PORTRAITS TO INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER
At first glance, the Londoner Living Gallery appears to be a high-end ‘Salon Style’ gallery – adorned with elaborate, painterly works of art depicting various characters and scenes. It’s only when you look a little closer you notice that the characters in the window shop are anything but lifeless works of art. The portraits come to life at regular intervals, interacting with each other and the still life paintings that surround them.

EACH ‘PORTRAIT’ CHARACTER AND SCENE WAS FILMED INDEPENDENTLY AND REQUIRED A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF DESIGN AND TECHNICAL VISUALISATION, PLANNING AND PREPARATION
The Londoner Living Gallery window was one of three custom designed shop fronts created by AIM for this area of the Londoner Hotel. In order to achieve the ‘deceit’ of the creative concept, each painting in the gallery window contains a cleverly hidden screen – allowing the portraits to exchange eye contact, offer each other gifts – and even ‘step’ into the worlds of each other’s paintings!
